Sun Island is located on South Ari Atoll, this magnificent resort with its beautiful beaches, spectacular tropical greenery and stunning blue lagoon will replenish your mind. The resorts world-class cuisine and beautiful setting will provide you with the perfect dream escape. The island is a 45 minute flight by Seaplane or 3 hour ride by speed boat from the international airport.

Sun Island, measuring about 1.6 km in length and around 380 metres in width, has 350 rooms, including 72 water bungalows, out of which 4 are Presidential Suites. The rest are Super Deluxe rooms (218) and Standard rooms (60).

All Super deluxe and Standard rooms are placed, to ensure a direct view of the beach and sea.

Sports & Recreation

A wide range of sports and recreational facilities with modern equipment and experienced instructors. These include floodlight tennis, basketball, volleyball, electronic games, squash, indoor badminton, table tennis etc.

A large swimming pool measuring 1800 square meters and children's pool is set amidst exotic landscaping. It extends right to the edge of the lagoon. Towards the end of the pool is a swim-up bar.

The Water Sports Centre of Sun Island is located on the East Side of the island. It has two toilets, two showers, a small terrace, and workshop, sail and surfboard racks are also available. Nearby there is the beach bar with view to the next door island.

There are three English-speaking instructors to help you in your need and through the lessons. Rental catamaran and windsurfing, water-ski, knee boarding, banana riding, rental canoe's (single & double) and Jet Ski riding are the activities offered.

Jets-ski trips and speedboat trips to the other islands also can be organized on request.

The Diving School of Sun Island is located on a small island connected by a wide jetty to the resort. Boat Dives are made three times a day, night dives two times a week (or more often on special request), day trips will be scheduled two times a week.

Health and Fitness

Concerning health & fitness, there are a wide variety of activities available to ensure absolute relaxation for your tired muscles. These activities include aromatherapy massage, aerobics, gymnasium, sauna, steam bath, chilled pond, Jacuzzi and saloon, etc.

Clinic

The resort's clinic is open daily to attend to your medical needs. Staffed with a doctor and nurses, the clinic's facilities include a well-stocked pharmacy, private rooms for in house treatment.

Entertainment

Sun Island presents you with an exciting weekly entertainment program comprising of live band, disco, Karaoke, competitions, poolside shows and many more to make your evening a lively and an enjoyable one.

Excursions

To acquaint you with the Maldivian way of life and customs, there are a number of excursions to the neighbouring islands where the centuries old culture and simple life style still remain unchanged.

The excursion guides escort and assist you during these trips that include tours to the local fishing villages, tourist resorts, uninhabited islands, fishing and reef snorkeling excursions etc. Amongst various type of fishing, the choices offered include sunrise fishing, sunset fishing and big game fishing.

 

Dining

5 Restaurants including Italian with Japanese corner and Chinese, Thai, 24 hour A la'-Carte Coffee Shop/ Restaurant and the Main Restaurant serves International Buffets at all meal times. 10 Bars including 24 hrs main bar with disco floor serves number of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and varieties of Cocktails.

Sun Island measuring about 1.6 km in length and around 380 meters in width has 350 elegantly furnished guestrooms, including 72 water bungalows, out of which, 4 are Presidential Suites, 218 Super Deluxe Beach Bungalows and 60 Deluxe Beach Bungalows.

All Deluxe and Super Deluxe Beach Bungalows are built on the beach ensuring a direct view of the shore and sea.

All Water Bungalows are built on stilts in the lagoon overlooking the vast horizon of either the sunrise or sunset view, from your private deck.

Deluxe Rooms

All the Deluxe rooms are with air-conditioning, hot & cold desalinated water, hair dryer, veranda, shower, mini bar, electronic safe, Satellite TV with in-house movies and internet access. IDD Telephones in room with voice mail facility.

Super Deluxe Rooms

All Super Deluxe rooms are with air-conditioning, en suite bath facilities with hot & cold desalinated water, bidet, bath tub, hair dryer, veranda, open shower, mini bar, electronic safe, satellite TV with in-house movies and internet access. IDD Telephones both in room and toilet with voice mail facility.

Water Bungalows

A wooden jetty leading out over the lagoon takes you this luxurious accommodation. Air-conditioning, hot & cold desalinated water, hair dryer, bidet, bath tub, mini bar, electronic safe, private sun deck, private stair case to the lagoon, satellite TV with in-house movies and internet access. IDD telephones both in room and bathroom with voice mail facility.

Presidential Suites

The Water Suites built either side of the far end of the jetties provide accommodation for those who want to spend their holiday in style. Each unit is made up of two bedrooms; one master bedroom furnished with a double bed and a twin bedroom with en suite bathrooms, living room with private bar with tea and coffee making facilities and a large private terrace with a Jacuzzi and corner bath in both bathrooms.

In addition to the above both the rooms with air-conditioning, hot & cold desalinated water, hair dryer, bidet, bath tub, private bar, electronic safe, satellite TV with in-house movies and internet access.
