The Kurumba housereef is home to coral growing on ancient volcanic mountains and a thousand different variations of stunning fauna.

Named after the coconuts that grow in abundance throughout the island, Kurumba Maldives pioneered tourism in the Maldives in 1972. It re-opened in 2004 as a classic resort of distinction, class and style and run with panache.

Kurumba Maldives is traditional in style and elegance, a unique holiday resort newly built to ancient Maldivian designs, with graceful meditation pavilions and a calm induced by a succession of ornamental pools. There are contemplative corners of artistic stones, exotic blooms galore in gladed gardens, and shaded avenues of swaying palms. The serenity of the resort is perfectly matched by the uncompromising luxury of its bungalows and villas.

Shaded paths lead from one side of this 48-acre circular island to the other. The white sand beach embracing the island is lapped by crystal clear waters of an azure lagoon, protected by eco-breakwaters of weathered coral.

There is a spacious reception area, comfortable bar and lounge area with live entertainment most evenings, coffee shop and karaoke bar.

Watersports include a catamaran and wind surf school and offers a range of fun activities - Parasailing with platform boat, Waterskiing, Wakeboarding, Kayaking, Banana Rodeo, Fun Tubes, Sailing Safaris with a skipper and more.

There is a House reef for snorkeling and a PADI certified dive centre managed by Euro Divers supports serious divers as well as beginners.

The Kurumba Spa managed by Aquum Spa has been created to blend in harmony with the surroundings in a sub eastern style - a sanctuary just for you!

You may also like to try a gentle class of yoga in the private yoga pavilion or for something a little more stimulating enjoy a session in the private cardio fitness gym. There is table tennis and all weather tennis courts (equipment available for hire).

With nine different restaurants offering seven cuisines (Chinese, Indian, pizza, Italian, Arabic, Japanese, barbeque terrace) to choose from, the Kurumba Maldives is a gourmet experience like no other in the Maldives.

An intimate candlelit dinner for two on the beach or an indulgent evening in a speciality restaurant or a grand buffet. You are spoilt for choice. And then you can dance the night away in the beach bar where five nights a week a band is in attendance. 24 hour in room dining is also available.

Room Facilities Information

180 bungalows and villas are dotted throughout the island within verdant foliage paces from the beach. Every one of its 180 individual villas and rooms is a symphony of good taste and glorious space, orchestrated with the harmony of polished wood floors, high timber-clad ceilings and antique style wooden furniture.

Superior Rooms

are in two storey buildings with air-conditioning, mini-bar, television, telephone, tea/coffee making facilities, open-air bath and shower and balcony or terrace.

Deluxe Rooms

are as superior rooms but are single storey with terrace.

Deluxe Bungalows

offer more space, a dressing room, outdoor day bed and a luxury bathroom.

Private Villas

are as deluxe bungalows with a separate open-plan sitting area and Jacuzzi.

Pool Villas

are luxurious and spacious villas with a private walled garden with a day bed and oversized pool and Jacuzzi
